NCRPO: No VIP treatment for ‘rapist’ cop

- By REY GALUPO

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Guillermo Eleazar conducted a surprise inspection at the Manila Police District (MPD) detention facility before dawn yesterday morning.

He visited the facility to ensure that Police Officer 1 Eduardo Valencia, who is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl in exchange for her parents’ freedom, was not being given VIP treatment.

Valencia and other police officers arrested the girl’s parents on drug charges.

Eleazar arrived unannounced at around 1:15 a.m. and briefly talked to Valencia, who is being held at the second floor of the MPD headquarters.

“This is to ensure that Valencia is detained here because there might be people who are thinking that he can go out of jail,” Eleazar said.

Eleazar also visited several police stations.

Meanwhile, the MPD said none of 110 personnel failed the surprise drug test conducted last Tuesday.

MPD director Chief Superintendent Vicente Danao said the random drug testing of the rank and file will continue until all members of the MPD have been tested.
