-

Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle recently conferred the Catholic Mass Media Award (CMMA) Hall of Fame Award for Best Opinion Column to writer, realty entrepreneur, teacher and Kamuning Bakery Café owner Wilson Lee Flores (photo) last Nov. 14 at the Star Theater, Star City, CCP Complex, Pasay City.

Apart from winning three Palanca literary awards, this is Wilson Lee’s record 15th CMMA award. His two previous CMMA Hall of Fame Awards included Best Business Column.

Last month, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista and Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte conferred on him the city’s highest honor, the Manuel L. Quezon Gawad Parangal Award.

Wilson Lee was cited for his writings, for saving the city’s pioneer and iconic, 79-yearold Kamuning Bakery Café and his various charities like the non-partisan and issuesfocused Pandesal Forum for newsmakers to dialogue with media, the annual World Pandesal Day that gives away 70,000 free breads and other foods to the indigent, and holding medical, dental and optical mission for the urban poor. He has also donated four public school buildings to poor rural regions, the first of which was to the historic seaside town of Balangiga in Eastern Samar.
