2 slain in gun bust
Two suspected gunrunners were killed in an alleged armed encounter with operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Northern Police District in Caloocan on Friday.
Reggie de Guzman and an alias Jayson Paguia were killed in a sting for loose firearms at a house in Barangay 12 Friday morning.
The suspects allegedly fought it out with police after noticing that the buyer offered fake money for the firearms.
Police recovered two 9mm bullet casings, two .45 caliber bullet casings, four sachets of suspected shabu, two .38 caliber revolvers and a .45 caliber pistol from the suspects.
De Guzman was in the drug watchlist and he was a suspect in the killing of barangay watchman Antonio Braquin, police said.
Police Officers 2 Melchor Rawis and Emerson Frutas were arrested along Road 10 in Rawis, Tondo just before noon following complaints by barangay officials, who alleged that the lawmen protected illegal cockfighting operations.
The CITF recovered a .45 caliber pistol, a 9mm Glock pistol, ammunition, two fighting cocks, two gaffing blades, and P15,000 bet money from the policemen.
