Huge losses force Metro Turf to stop op­er­a­tions

Metro Manila Turf Club (Metro Turf) has ad­vised the Philip­pine Rac­ing Com­mis­sion it is tem­po­rar­ily sus­pend­ing all rac­ing ac­tiv­i­ties at its Mal­var, Batan­gas rac­ing com­plex start­ing Jan. 1 due to huge losses from its op­er­a­tions.

Philra­com re­cently, at­tribut­ing Metro Turf’s de­clin­ing sales to var­i­ous fac­tors, in­clud­ing com­pe­ti­tion posed by il­le­gal on­line sabong op­er­a­tion and the high rac­ing taxes.

Quisumb­ing said Metro Turf’s tem­po­rary sus­pen­sion of rac­ing ac­tiv­i­ties will run for a pe­riod of three months.
