TOYOTA SWITCHES ON ONE-MW SOLAR ARRAY:
Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. recently inaugurated its one-megawatt (MW) solar array at its manufacturing/assembly plant in Santa Rosa City, one of TMP’s major initiatives to minimize its carbon footprint and help mitigate the effects of climate change. TMP also partnered with Spectrum, a Manila Electric Co. subsidiary, which provided technical expertise and carried out the solar array installation. With the solar array supplying four percent of the company’s annual electricity requirements, TMP will be able to reduce production operation’s CO2 emissions and generate energy cost savings of around P10 million annually. The ceremonial lights-on of the solar array scale model was led by (from left) TMP executive vice president Tomohiro Iwamoto, TMP president Satoru Suzuki, Meralco president Oscar Reyes and Spectrum president Jose Rainier Reyes.
