Lanao Norte teen 4Ps exemplary child
A 14-year old Lanao del Norte senior high school student has been awarded the Pantawid Pamilya National Exemplary Child 2018 by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Jay Mark Gac-ang, of Poblacion Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte, who is an outstanding student as he pursues his dream to be a lawyer someday, bested 16 regional winners who joined the 2018 National Search for Exemplary Children among familybeneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
The award was conferred to Gac-ang during the celebration of the “Araw ng Kabataan” held at the SM North Skydome last Dec. 1.
“I am very happy today. The hardships and hard work paid-off with great success,” Jay Mark shared during his speech after being announced as winner.
At a very young age, he experienced and witnessed how difficult life is. Their life’s difficulties served as his motivation of providing a better life to his family someday.
He also witnessed how elusive justice could be most especially for the poor.
“I wanted to become a lawyer someday. I want to give voice to those who are poor and oppressed. I want to prove that justice is not only for the rich but also for the poor. I want everyone to know that justice is not about money but it is about truth,” Gac-ang added.
