Miss Teen Phl returns to make bigger dreams come true
Miss Teen Philippines 2014 Reissha Nicole Villar Magadia The country’s first-ever beauty pageant for teens marks a new milestone in its history as Miss Teen Philippines 2019 opens with bigger opportunities for its future youth ambassador to empower the new generation and promote the value of education on the global stage.
In a media launch held recently, Miss Teen Philippines 2019 pageant organizers revealed bigger plans for the beauty tilt and what awaits the next batch of young Filipinas who will be chosen for their beauty, charm, intellect and potential to be inspiring role models for the youth.
Present during the launch were reigning Miss Teen Philippines 2014 Reissha Nicole Villar Magadia, Miss Teen Philippines 2014 finalist Bianca Willemsen and Miss Teen Philippines 2014 first runner-up Chiara Ocampo, who all shared their journey and purpose as young beauty queens.
“We are very proud and excited to bring back Miss Teen Philippines,” said Miss Teen Philippines 2004 Stephanie Sol. “We all know that a lot of young girls dream of becoming beauty queens. Miss Teen Philippines is their chance to make that dream come true and, at the same time, make a meaningful impact on the society.”
Miss Teen Philippines 2019 takes the competition to a new level by highlighting its aim to promote “global readiness through education” and choosing a winner who embodies all the qualities of a true youth ambassador.
“We are looking for an exceptional winner who is not just a pretty face, but must also be at the forefront in promoting our cause and be a role model among her peers,” shared Regine Angeles, Youth Empowerment Through Education Foundation, Inc. director. “Of course, we will also take into consideration the candidate’s personality. She should be outgoing and exude the vibe of the younger generation.”
To further realize its goal, Miss Teen Philippines has partnered with local government agencies to help facilitate the rollout of the pageant’s projects. “We have had initial talks with various government agencies, particularly Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Education and National Youth Commission. So far, they are more than willing to extend assistance and make Miss Teen Philippines a partner in some of their initiatives,” Angeles added.
Miss Teen Philippines 2019 is open to all female, single, natural-born Filipinas aged 14 to 18 (at the time of the pageant on April 13, 2019). The aspiring beauty queen must be currently enrolled in an educational institution, at least 5’2” in height, and has the heart and talent to represent the Filipino youth.
Screening for Metro Manila aspirants will be on Feb. 2, 2019. Application forms, which are available on the Miss Teen Philippines official Facebook page, must be submitted on or before Feb. 1, 2019.
A regional search will also be held from January to February 2019 to give those living outside of Metro Manila a chance to make it to the big stage.
Regional screenings will commence in the following areas: Pampanga on Dec. 15; Iloilo City, Jan. 5; Davao City, Jan. 6; Cebu City and Cagayan de Oro, Jan. 13; Bicol Region and MIMAROPA, Jan. 20; Laguna, Jan. 26; and Ilocos Region, Jan. 27.
A total of 30 finalists will be chosen to vie for the crown in the grand coronation night at the Maybank Performing Arts Theater on April 13, 2019, with delayed telecast on ABS-CBN. Reissha Nicole will relinquish her crown which she won when she was 15. After winning the crown, she finished second runner-up in the 2016 Miss Teen International pageant held in Jacksonville, Florida, USA.
In addition to the title and the chance to be a youth ambassador, the winner will also bring home a P300,000 cash prize. The first runner-up will receive P200,000 while Miss Teen Philippines Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will each get P100,000.
