- By RICHMOND MERCURIO

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific has expanded its route network from Clark International Airport in Pampanga, commencing recently commercial operations of its daily flight to the new Bohol-Panglao International Airport.

The new route is part of the carrier’s expansion plans for its Clark hub to cater to areas in Northern and Central Luzon.

“We are excited to commence operation of our newest route in Clark. As we expand our fleet and our route network, we look forward to supporting economic growth in Clark and its surrounding areas as well as in the province of Bohol through tourism and logistics support,” Cebu Pacific director for airport services Dindo Fernando said.

Cebu Pacific said the new route is expected to stimulate domestic tourism in the Visayas, Central Luzon and Northern Luzon, as well as provide support for the growing Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism sub-industry.

The daily flight bound for Tagbilaran (Panglao) is scheduled to depart from Clark at 9:55 a.m. and arrive at 11:20 a.m., while the return flight will depart from Bohol at 11:50 a.m. and arrive at Clark at 1:15 p.m.

Cebu Pacific has been mounting flights to and from Bohol – initially from the Tagbilaran Airport--since 2004.

The carrier started commercial flights out of the Clark airport in 2006 and it has served as its North and Central Luzon hub for the past 10 years.

It has increased the frequency of its Clark hub by 75 percent this year alone, bringing the total number of flights in and out of Clark to 3,711 by end-2018, representing 620,540 seats.

Cebu Pacific said it has maintained leadership in the domestic market – having flown over 11.1 million passengers across 37 destinations, 76 routes, and over 2,130 weekly flights from January to September.
