bagged the Best Actor Award at the recent 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal.

The actor won the award for his performance in One Great Love, Regal Entertainment, Inc.’s entry to the MMFF 2018.

He was a no-show during the affair because he was said to be recovering from a sickness; however, he expressed his gratitude through a social media post.

On Instagram, Dennis thanked Regal matriarch, Mother Lily Monteverde, for giving him another opportunity to showcase his acting skills, and his director Erik Quizon for the guidance. The actor also praised his co-stars — Kim Chiu, JC de Vera, Marlo Mortel and Miles Ocampo — for being very good co-workers who are serious about their craft. He also waxed nostalgic as he recalled that 14 years, he received his first MMFF Best Actor trophy for his first-ever film Aishite Imasu 1941, also directed by Joel Lamangan (named this year’s MMFF Best Director for Rainbow’s Sunset). Dennis gave special mention to his loved ones, particularly girlfriend Jennylyn Mercado. “Ang lahat ng ito ay hindi ko magagawa kung hindi sa tulong ng lahat ng mga mahal ko sa buhay. Salamat sa inyong pag aalaga at pagmamahal sakin lalu na kay @ mercadojenny.” One Great Love was also awarded the Third Best Picture and Best Musical Score by Miguel Mendoza. The film, which is still showing in cinemas nationwide, was Graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board.
