Go nixes narco-pols’ support for Senate bid

DAVAO CITY – Former special assistant to the president Christopher Go has vowed to reject any support coming from narco-politicians for his Senate bid.

Go, who is running in the midterm elections in May, gave this statement during his visit to fire victims as he also reached out to the community of Barangay Daliao in Toril here to give assistance and listen to their concerns.

The fire in Daliao on Tuesday destroyed at least 34 houses, left 40 families homeless, injured two people and caused damage to property amounting to P400,000.

In an ambush interview, Go dismissed speculations going the rounds in social media that some politicians included in the alleged narco-list submitted to President Duterte are offering support for his senatorial bid.

“I wouldn’t be able to know all who are taking photo-ops with me, coming beside me or those supporting me. But if you are involved in drugs, no compromise, thank you, anyway. My only plea: stay away from me and stay away from drugs because your lives are more endangered with it,” Go said in Filipino.

While he is trying to win the support of the people as well as of other local and national leaders, Go said he does not want to have to do anything with politicians or community leaders linked to the illegal drug trade.

“As long as he is a narcopolitician, there is compromise. I do not accept support from narco-politicians. If you are into narco-politics, stay away from me,” he reiterated.

Go, a staunch supporter of Duterte, has been drumming up support for the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs, crime and corruption.

The President’s former aide said he is humbled by the latest senatorial surveys showing him making a big jump in the ranking, adding that it only served to inspire him to work harder in serving the Filipino people.

Meanwhile, Go and his supporters distributed clothes, shoes, grocery items, food packs, meals and cash assistance to residents affected by the fire.
