MAGUINDANAO – Authorities arrested five alleged members of the terrorist Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters following a raid on the BIFF’s camp in Paglat, Maguindanao on Saturday.

The raid in Barangay Damakling also resulted in the recovery of three improvised explosive devices and three pistols, according to Maj. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, chief of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division.

Sobejana attributed the success of the operation to the cooperation shown by residents and local officials.

Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group based in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and the 4th Special Action Battalion of the police assisted the military during the raid.

The arrested suspects were followers of radical clerics Yasser Saligan and Sheik Makakena, Sobejana said.

Saligan and Makakena were tagged in separate attacks in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat last year.
