2 cops, 6 others slain in Luzon shootings

Two police officers, one of them tagged in the illegal drug trade, and six other persons were gunned down in separate incidents in Luzon since Sunday.

Police Officer 2 Jose Jello Changcoco, 48, was driving his car on his way to the police station in Angono, Rizal when he was shot in Barangay San Roque at about 6:50 a.m. yesterday, Senior Superinten­dent Lou Evangelist­a, Rizal police director, said.

Changcoco died on the way to the Unciano Hospital.

In Laguna, PO1 Anthony Bautista, allegedly drew his gun after selling shabu to undercover agents in Barangay San Vicente, Biñan, Laguna also yesterday.

Bautista, formerly with the Biñan police’s drug enforcemen­t unit, was with the Pangil police when he went on absent without official leave in 2012.

Senior Superinten­dent Eleazar Matta, Laguna police director, said Rocky Trinidad and Alex Gayoba fired at police officers who posed as buyers of shabu in Barangay Tagapo, Sta. Rosa and Dela Paz, Biñan, respective­ly, on Sunday.

In Abra, Randy Bayubay was in a tricycle when he was shot in Sitio Pikpukaw, Barangay Nangonbong­an, San Juan.

Dante David, 40, was shot in Barangay Mahabang Parang, Batangas City at around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Two suspected motorcycle thiefs were gunned down when they allegedly drove past a checkpoint and shot it out with police officers who pursued them in Barangay Salawag, Dasmariñas, Cavite.
