All-new Audi Q8 and Audi luxury model range win awards worldwide
THE all-new Audi Q8, which made its Philippine debut at the 16th Enrique Zobel Memorial Polo Cup last Sunday, garnered awards worldwide at the end of 2018 as well as at the start of the new year. The Audi Q8 combines the elegance of a fourdoor luxury coupé with the practical versatility of a large SUV. Richly equipped and tough enough for offroad duty, it is a confident companion for business and leisure.
The new Q8 has a powerful yet efficient 3.0 TFSI motor producing 335hp. All drive systems are efficient thanks to the new mild hybrid technology (MHEV). Generously dimensioned interior, state of the art operating and suspension technologies as well as intelligent assistance systems make the Audi Q8 the perfect companion for business and leisure.
The Q8 exudes a sporty but elegant exterior design with its brawny radiator grille that stands upright, together with the spoiler that has been drawn toward the front and the large, highly contoured air inlets, emphasizing a self-confident look. Strong contours and athletically tight surfaces convey a feeling of power, sophistication and the special dynamics of the permanent all-wheel drive.
The spoiler, wheel arch trims, door trim strips and diffuser are in a contrasting color to further emphasize the offroad look. Standard LED headlights illuminate the road, with HD Matrix LED technology. Here both the threedimensional signature of the daytime running lights and the taillights have a digital character.
The Audi Q8 also offers adaptive air suspension that adjusts the ride height depending on the driving situation and the driver’s preference by as much as 90mm.
The Q8 also features the MMI touch response operating concept where nearly every function can be accessed via two large displays. It also showcases a fully digital Audi virtual cockpit, a highresolution 12.3-inch display which can be switched between two views via the multifunction steering wheel.
The new Q8 is also top-notch with respect to sound with the Bang & Olufsen Advanced Sound System. It delivers fascinating 3D sound to all five seats. Whether parking, in the city or on long journeys, the Q8 supports its driver with the 360-degree cameras.
The Audi Q8 was the big winner of the Axel Springer Spain’s Motor Awards 2018. Readers of the magazine Auto Bild España selected it as the winner in the Large SUV category. A panel of journalists also honored it with the Special Top Gear Spain Award for Design. The large SUV coupe was therefore the only vehicle to claim two awards. The Q8 was also the winner of an internet vote conducted by the Spanish edition of Car&Driver magazine. Readers voted it number one in the most important category, Car&Driver Car, at the 24th Annual Motor Awards. The renowned French automotive medium L’argus also awarded the Audi Q8 with the Argus Award 2019 in the category Family and Premium SUV.
AUDI MODEL RANGE’S GLOBAL AWARDS
The Audi Q5 received the Best Buy Award in the Compact Luxury SUV category and the Audi Q7 is the Best Buy in the Midsize Luxury SUV category for the 2019 model year from Kelley Blue Book, a leading market observer in the USA. With the Q5, which has now won the Best Buy Award two years in a row, the panelists cited the innovative technology, quattro all-wheel drive, extraordinary finish, and the high efficiency. Tipping the scales in favor of the Q7 were not just its quality and luxury character, but also its elegant design and the quiet, comfortable ride.
In Japan, the Japanese edition of the lifestyle magazine GQ has named the two top Audi models A8 and A7 Sportback “Luxury Cars of the Year.” A panel of automotive and lifestyle journalists rendered the decision as part of the GQ Japan Car of the Year competition.
In France, the Audi Q5 claimed the honor First in Quality from L’argus with a customer satisfaction rate of 93.8 percent. The Audi Q3 also claimed the title of Car of the Year in the Innovations Award 2018, an online competition conducted by the prestigious magazine Auto Moto.
Meanwhile, the Audi e-tron was named the winner by a wide margin in the Techno-Car 2019 category of the Coyote Awards presented by the French traffic information service. This award recognizes the most innovative technologies in the areas of driver support, comfort, infotainment and ecology. The editors of the high-tech website lesnumériques.com honored the Audi A7 Sportback as the best connected car in its Les Etoiles ranking.
