Chinese New Year at SM City North EDSA

-

SM City North EDSA welcomed the Year of the Pig with Peppa Pig leading the way in a series of festivities.

During the celebrations, The Block’s Atrium was transformed into Peppa Pig’s Chinese Garden with a pagoda, bridge and golden tree, as well as Chinese lanterns, floral decorations and bamboo trees.

For the occasion, Peppa Pig and her family — Suzy Sheep, Danny Dog and Candy Cat — greeted mall goers dressed in traditional cheongsams at the Paifang a gateway symbolizing longevity, health, luck and happiness.

Peppa’s Grandpa Pig and Granny Pig were also on hand to invite guests to their Chinese Styled Pagoda. It was connected by the bridge leading to the legendary Money Tree and all the good fortune it is said to bring.

During the festivities, there were meet-and-greet sessions with Peppa, a live Chinese New Year Astrological forecast by International Feng Shui Master Maritess Allen, and traditional lion and dragon dances, not only at North EDSA but also at SM City Fairview, Manila, San Lazaro and Sta. Mesa.

There was also an Oriental Market, which is a treasure trove of lucky charms for good luck, blessings, protection and good fortune. This includes the Yin Yang charms; bead, crystal and fortune bracelets; Buddhas, spiritual icons, bells and wind chimes, moneybags, and golden Pigs.
