A FRUITFUL VENTURE

RHEA PENASO TARIMAN PALA-O, ILIGAN CITY

-

Rhea Penaso Tariman started her fruit-selling business at the Pala-o Public Market in Iligan City in 2009 with only ₱3,000 as capital.

Due to lack of working capital, Rhea used to be a consignee for a fellow fruit vendor. She takes fruits from the consignment stock for resale. With the use of trisikad or padyak, she would pedal around town all day to sell the fruits and then pay the consignor in the afternoon.

After some time, Rhea expanded her business to meet the demands of her customers who would frequent her fruit stall.

Tariman learned about the P3 program of the Small Business Corp. (SB Corp) and immediately applied for a loan.

The loan application was approved in December 2018, just in time for the Christmas season. With the additional capital, she was able to increase her fruit supply.

With the additional capital from the program, Rhea was able to own the stall she previously rented and is now a consignor to fruit peddlers.
