LGBA series kicks off at Pasay Cockpit

The first leg (7-cock derby) of the 2019 Luzon Gamecock Breeders Associatio­n (LGBA) Cocker of the Year series gets going today at the Pasay City Cockpit.

Leading the cast are recent derby winners – 2019 Pitmasters champ and cockfight idol Patrick Antonio, 2018 ‘Digmaan’ champ Rhona Bullecer, 2018 NCA Stagfighte­rs Ricky Magtuto, Willard Ty and Nick Crisostomo, 2019 World Slasher Cup runner-up Paolo Mercado, 2018 LGBA Breeder of the Year Jimmy Junsay and the team of Arman Santos, Edwin Aranez and Raffy Campos who topped the NCA 6-Cock Derby last Tuesday.

The next group of LGBA champions will vie Feb. 18 for the second round elims and all qualifiers will compete on Feb. 22 (4-cock finals).

Supported by Sagupaan Superfeeds and Complexor 3000, the LGBA series continues with the second leg on March 11, 18 and 25 (7-bullstag derby) and third leg on April 12 (Encuentro 5-bullstag derby).

This year’s LGBA Cocker of the Year will recieve P500,000 and a silver cup.

Meanwhile, LGBA president Nick Crisostomo announced that wingbandin­g of stags for the 9M LBC Cup starts on March 1 and will include the islands of Catanduane­s, Oriental Mindoro and Palawan.
