Bullpups, Eaglets go for clincher
Games today (Filoil Flying V Center) 1 p.m. – NU vs AdU (F4) 3 p.m. – Ateneo vs FEU (F4) *NU and Ateneo with twice-to-beat advantage
Top-seeded National U and No. 2 Ateneo look to pounce on their twice-to-beat advantage to finish off their respective Final Four opponents and set up a title clash in UAAP Season 81 juniors’ basketball today at the Filoil Flying V Center.
The Bullpups seek this objective at 1 p.m. against No. 4 Adamson while the defending champion Blue Eaglets aim for the same versus No. 3 Far Eastern U-Diliman in their 3 p.m. encounter.
NU has swept the second round and won 13 of its assignments in the elims, but if there’s one team that knows how to stop the rampaging Bullpups, it’s the Baby Falcons.
Back in the first round, the San Marcelinobased cagers defied the odds and hacked out a 62-59 upset of NU. The Bullpups, though, got back with an emphatic 112-71 rout in Round 2 as part of their eight-game streak that cleared the way for their No. 1 position.
The Baby Falcons, who finished with 9-5, plan to make the most of their second straight F4 stint and upstage the Bullpups two more times for a place in the championship.
Meanwhile, the Eaglets ended the elims with 11-3, with two of their victories coming at the expense of the Baby Tams (9-5). Most Valuable Player winner Kai Sotto and the Eaglets want to make it three-in-a-row versus their rivals from Diliman to stay on track for back-to-back.
