PWU holds centennial convocation
The Philippine Women’s University launched their University Foundation Month with the centennial convocation, held on Feb. 6 at the PWU Taft campus. The community was delighted to welcome back Alice Louise Walton, founder and chair of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art as guest of honor at the ceremony. Also in attendance as special guest was US Ambassador Sung Kim.
PWU president Jose Francisco Benitez, during his speech, touched upon the university’s many challenges and successes over the past century, and elaborated on the proposed educational initiatives and infrastructure developments that will move PWU forward to the next 100 years.
Addressing the convocation, Walton, who last visited PWU 25 years ago when she was conferred an honorary degree, expressed her joy to be back to commemorate the PWU Centennial. Patricia Araneta, PWU sa Sining at Kultura,” board of trustees member, prean art exhibit featuring the sented centennial certificates to works of PWU alumni artists Walton and US Ambassador and select pieces from the PWU Kim in appreciation of their art collection. The exhibit is on support to PWU and their display at the HZB Hall at the continued efforts in bridgebuilding PWU Taft campus until March 6.
