- – Eva Visperas

BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan – The first “honesty store” in a public school in this town was opened at the Bayambang National High School on Tuesday.

Joel Cayabyab, Bayambang Poverty Reduction Action Team head, said they would put up more honesty stores in public schools to instill a culture of honesty and integrity among the youth.

Pencils, ball pens, cookies, chocolate bars and pad papers, among others, are among those being sold at the store.

Patterned after the Honesty Café in Batanes, the store is left unattended and buyers are expected to voluntarily pay for the items they get.

The honesty store put up at the Manila Police District closed shop after six months of operations due to financial losses blamed on dishonest buyers.
