LAGUNA – Four drug suspects were killed in alleged encounters with police officers in this province over the weekend.

Rodolfo Doroja resisted arrest after he reportedly sold an undetermined amount of shabu to undercover agents in Barangay Santo Niño before dawn yesterday.

Doroja allegedly drew a gun and shot at the officers, triggering a firefight that resulted in his death.

At almost the same time, Dionisio Corpin, alias Dodong, was killed in an alleged encounter with antinarcotics agents in Barangay Cuyab, San Pedro City.

Aside from engaging in the illegal drug trade, Corpin was also allegedly involved in gunrunning and robbery in Muntinlupa City and in the nearby barangays of Laguna, according to Senior Superintendent Eleazar Matta, provincial police director.

In San Pablo City, Miguelito Manola and Pastor Barcenas reportedly drew their guns after sensing they were dealing with undecover agents in Barangay Santiago on Saturday night.

Police said they recovered two handguns and a plastic sachet said to contain shabu from the suspects.

Meanwhile, 27 drug suspects were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Bulacan over the weekend.

At least 16 plastic sachets said to contain shabu and an undetermined amount of cash were seized following the operations in the cities of Malolos and Meycauayan, and in the towns of Bocaue, Bustos, Plaridel, Pandi and San Ildefonso, according to Senior Superintendent Chito Bersaluna, Bulacan police director.
