6 suspects dead in shootouts with cops
Six people, two of them drug suspects, were killed in alleged shootouts with police officers in Pampanga and Bulacan on Tuesday.
Reports reaching the office of Chief Superintendent Joel Napoleon Coronel, Central Luzon police director, said four motorcycleriding men refused to pull over at a checkpoint in Barangay San Basilio in Sta. Rita, Pampanga and shot pursuing police officers.
The suspects, who have yet to be identified, were pronounced dead on arrival in a hospital.
Police said three caliber .45 pistols and a caliber .38 revolver were recovered from the fatalities.
Senior Superintendent Chito Bersaluna, Bulacan police director, said Edilberto Mariñas, alias Pingas, and Rogelio Caranto, alias Boy, fired at police officers in Barangay Minuyan, San Jose del Monte and Tibag, Pulilan, respectively.
Police said two .38-caliber revolvers, 12 sachets of shabu and marked money were recovered from the fatalities.
P9.3-M shabu seized
In Cebu City, 1.34 kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of P8 million were reportedly recovered from Vanessa Lauron, who was arrested in a sting in Barangay Sawang Calero after midnight yesterday.
Jonmar Cardenas, 19, was apprehended after selling shabu valued at P50,000 to an undercover agent also in Cebu. He reportedly yielded 200 grams of shabu valued at P1.36 million.
