Angelica & Carlo like playing house
“Time will tell. Kung buhay pa siguro
ako nun,” was Angelica Panganiban’s blunt reply when asked if she was willing to work with PlayHouse co-star Carlo Aquino in another project after reuniting in last year’s film Excess Baggage and the ongoing daytime Kapamilya series. Incidentally, when news broke that the former sweethearts were not on speaking terms, Carlo’s stint on the series had also ended when his character Harold “left for abroad to pursue his career.”
Angelica clarified that Carlo’s leaving was originally in the script. “We knew ever since, parang halos
isang buwan lang, cameo role, tapos na-extend,” she said, adding that her character Patty “felt sad, of course, but she is okay now that she is more focused on taking care of Robin (child star JJ Quilantang).”
Although they remained “civil” to each other in their last few taping days, Angelica admitted that she is no longer communicating with him.
“It’s been a while now,” she confirmed after the thanksgiving presscon for PlayHouse’s finale on March 22.
These past few weeks, rumors circulated that Carlo was dating a new girl. Photos of Carlo and his presumed model girlfriend even went viral on social media. Angelica has also reportedly distanced herself from Carlo (by unfollowing him on Instagram) after learning that his fans were bashing her.
Carlo said in an article that he would rather keep mum about his love life.
“Whatever it is that the people think, I don’t feel the need to explain anything. Basta ‘yung mga taong nagmamahal sa akin, ‘yung kilala ako, that’s what matters. Naiintindihan nila ako.”
He added that it could not stop people from getting confused about him
and Angelica because “We look good on- and off-screen. Ang nagkulang lang siguro ‘yung pag-uusap.”
Although she’s “disappointed,” Angelica said she has no resentment towards Carlo at all. “Yun lang naman yung nararamdaman ko. (I just felt) disappointed,” adding, “No, I did not (cry) Muntik lang, muntik lang tapos naisip ko, ‘Uy bakit? Ay, huwag na lang.’ Ganun.”
When asked if she has moved on or is in the process of moving on, Angelica replied, “Why should I move on? For what? There’s no reason at all. There is sadness but it happens naman in our daily life. Hindi pwedeng masaya ka palagi.” “But,” she added, “I’m ready to fall in love again. Matagal na akong excited, matagal na akong ready. I am a little cautious now but (I) have to give that love to someone who deserves it.”
