JFC set to open store in Guam

- – Iris Gonzales

Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC), the Filipino-owned global food conglomerate, is set to open the milestone store of its flagship brand, Jollibee in Guam.

The move is part of the company’s accelerated expansion plans around the globe as JFC continues to even the split between its domestic and international sales.

JFC will open its Jollibee branch in Guam near Micronesia Mall in Dededo on April 6.

The Guam store is on top of the 37 Jollibee stores currently in the US located in states such as New York, Florida, Texas, California, Hawaii and many others, said Dennis Flores, president and head of International Business — Europe, Middle East, Asia and Australia.

“This is a special moment in Jollibee’s history. We’ve long dreamed of the day we could serve the beautiful island of Guam, with its unique blend of Pacific, Asian and American cultures and cuisine,” Flores said.

“We believe that our best-selling Chickenjoy and other favorites will appeal to the diverse people of Guam,” he said.

Thus, Jollibee is bringing to Guam its most popular menu items, including their world-famous Chickenjoy, Jolly Spaghetti and Jollibee Burger Steak.

But as with its other branches abroad, Jollibee will also cater to the local market. It has succeeded in winning the preference of various

markets such as Vietnam, Brunei, Singapore, Hong Kong and Manhattan.

The company is determined to achieve the same kind of success in Guam and across the globe, Flores said.

JFC is the parent company of Jollibee and has 14 brands with over 4,500 stores across 21 countries.

In 2013, JFC became the number one restaurant company in Asia, in terms of market capitalization and is currently the world’s largest and fastest growing Asian restaurant company.

The fast-food giant is now aiming to be among the top five largest restaurant companies in the world.

Last year, the company grew its net income by 17 percent to P8.3 billion from P7.1 billion in 2017.

In 2018, JFC opened 317 stores in the Philippines and 185 outside the country. It also re-entered Malaysia with the opening of a Jollibee store in Kota Kinabalu last Dec. 15.

At the end of 2018, it was operating 3,126 restaurant outlets in the country and 1,395 stores abroad.
