A safer way to achieve your #beautygoals

-

Looking good knows no age, size or gender. And it goes hand in hand with feeling good about your self, having selfconfidence and loving yourself more.

Going for an aesthetic procedure may give a huge boost to one’s self-confidence.

Aesthetic services are not limited to plastic surgeries. These also include dermatologic procedures such as laser treatments and hair transplant, oculoplastic (cosmetic surgery of the eyes), vascular, and gynecologic aesthetic surgery, and weight loss (bariatric) surgery.

There are so many beauty centers/clinics all over the metro. And there are horror stories about burned skin and scars from a botched laser job. Although not fatal, this could be devastating to the client who expects to have smoother, healthy-looking skin. There are also stories from victims of plastic surgeries gone wrong.

“It is highly advisable that you find a board-certified doctor you can trust because aesthetic procedures may result in more complications if done unprofessionally,” said Dr. Christian Javier Flores, director of the Wellness and Aesthetics Institute of premier Philippine hospital The Medical City (TMC).

To find out if a doctor is board-certified, the client can check if he or she is a member of the Philippine Dermatological Society, or for plastic surgeons, the Philippine Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (PAPRAS) or the Philippine Board of Plastic Surgery. Oculoplastic surgeons should be members of the Philippine Board of Ophthalmology and the Philippine Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons should be affiliated with the Philippine College of Surgeons and / or the Philippine Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Board-certified doctors usually belong to a reputable health institution like TMC.

Under TMC-WAI is the Aesthetics Center, which was recently renamed Aesthetics by The Medical City. It is a center committed to provide the safest environment and the best technology in surgical and non-surgical options for clients seeking to enhance their looks.

Aesthetics by The Medical City is headed by Dr. Krisinda Dim-Jamora, a Philippine Dermatological Society diplomate and a subspecialist in Moh’s surgery. (Mohs micrographic surgery is considered the most effective technique for treating skin cancer.)

The launch of the new aesthetics center was held recently at TMC in Ortigas, Pasig City.

The event was attended by TMC chairman of the board Jose Xavier B. Gonzales, president and CEO Dr. Eugenio Jose F. Ramos, Dr. Flores, Dr. Jamora, and other specialists from TMC-WAI, TMC managers and staff, guests and clients.

One of the highlights of the launch was the exhibit featuring portraits of the center’s clients turned brand ambassadors and personalities who exude confidence and radiate beauty from within.

Dr. Flores cited four unique features that the center can offer: expert care, dedicated and hospitable facility, value for privacy, and high standards for safety.

“All our doctors have high-quality training both locally and abroad and are considered experts in their field. Our in-house support staff are well-trained, personable and dependable — attuned to the needs of our clients,” said Dr. Flores.

“We at Aesthetics by The Medical City, see your beauty from all angles — inside and out — and we’ll help you realize your beauty goals in the healthiest and most private way possible,” added Dr. Jamora.

Services offered by the center include Aesthetic Dermatology services (Skin Assessment Consult with Dermoscopy, Visia Complexion Analysis System, Dermatological Laser Services, Hair Transplant, Cosmetic Tattoo: Eyebrow Microblading and Scalp Micropigmentation, and Fillers and Toxins); Aesthetic Surgery Services (for Face and Neck, Breast, Body Contouring and Fat Reduction, and Eyelid), and Weight Loss or Bariatric surgery.

TMC-WAI, which is a complex separate from the main hospital, houses the center. It has an operating room that caters only to aesthetics procedures. This ensures that clients can have their procedures done in complete privacy. Since TMC-WAI is a “unique facility within the hospital,” clients also have the full support of all specialists in the medical field, giving them the assurance and peace of mind especially in cases of emergencies.

“TMC’s fifth Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation also ensures that everything we offer at the aesthetics center is of the highest quality and guarantees safety,” added Dr. Flores. JCI is the world’s premier healthcare quality improvement and accreditation body.
