BCI Asia awards developers, architecture and design firms

The annual BCI Asia Awards, now in its 15th year, will be held in seven Asian regions: Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Beyond recognizing developers and architecture firms building and designing the greatest volume of buildings in the seven markets, BCI Asia Awards aims to encourage the creation of socially responsible architecture. Celebrating 15 years of building and design leadership, BCI Asia Awards remains one of the most coveted awards in the regional building industry while serving as a platform for domestic and international networking among elite architecture firms, property developers, manufacturers and service providers.

The BCI Awards Manila will be held on June 14 at Grand Hyatt Manila.

The BCI Asia Top Ten Architects and Developers Awards will be revealed at the awards ceremony. They are identified as the firms with the greatest aggregate value of projects under construction during the last full calendar year by the extent of their sustainability and confirmed green building ratings. The criteria also include projects from the pretender stages to recognize early-stage Green design efforts. The winners for 2019 will be announced in March 2019.

First launched in 2007, FuturArc Prize (www.futurarcprize.com) aims to encourage and generate forwardthinking, innovative design ideas for Asia and its sustainability. For more than 12 years, the competition has been the leading platform for professionals and students who are passionate about the environment to envision a more sustainable future for Asia. Every year, FuturArc Prize has reached out to thousands of professionals and students from the region and beyond to propose ideas based on a different brief or challenge. Hyper-density, Asia: The 2019 cycle asks entrants to propose solutions to live and/or work in a hyper-dense city in Asia, based on an actual site measuring 1 sqm.

FuturArc Green Leadership Award (www.futurarcgreenleadershipaward.com) was launched in 2009 to seek out ecologically responsible buildings in Asia, recognizing the team behind a completed project (architects, developers, consultants, contractors, etc.) that has collectively raised the bar of what a Green building is in Asia. Projects, which should fall under any one of the six categories, are judged on how they deliver specific, measurable outcomes based on the criteria of resilience, wellness, embeddedness, ecosystems and replicability.

BCI Asia Interior Design Awards was started two years ago (www. bciasiaidawards.com) recognizing excellent interior designs of projects located in the seven BCI Asia markets. It seeks interior, architectural designs that stand out aesthetically, functionally and ergonomically, based on the criteria of spatial design; comfort; aesthetics; innovation; and realization efficiency.

Each cycle of these three design competitions takes place from September to January, with winners being notified by end March. The 2019 cycle of FuturArc Prize received over 100 entries; FuturArc Green Leadership Award over 90 submissions; and BCI Asia Interior Design Awards over 200 entries.
