Zonta Club of Baguio turns 50

-

The Zonta Club of Baguio recently celebrated its 50th anniversary with the theme: “50 Years of Responding to Women Empowerment.” The club, led by its Biennium 2018-2020 president Dr. Jennifer BalatianTiong, paid tribute to its past presidents who significantly brought about accomplishments and projects for women and children in Baguio City.

Since 1929 the club has a network of professional women in Baguio City united for the common mission of empowering women and children, and has given its members local opportunities to serve and support their communities.

The club is locally known for its solid support to the campaign “Zonta Says No to Violence Against Women,” the prevention of teenage pregnancy, and the promotion of gender equality.

It has also organized two youth clubs, the Z and Golden Z, to help high school and university students develop leadership skills and encourage them to participate in community/school-related service projects.

Currently, the club has 38 regular and honorary members. Its official club residence is at 171 Military Cut-off, Baguio City.
