MNLF member caught in P1-M drug sting

A member of the Moro National Liberation Front and his uncle were arrested in a P1-million drug bust in Quezon City on Friday night.

Bismar Sabtula Nadduha, 25, and his uncle Jinsir Abduhaddi Jhol, 40, were arrested during a sting at their rented home on Sta. Catalina street in Barangay Holy Spirit.

The two men, said to be local distributors for illegal drugs, were arrested after police operatives were able to buy P50,000 worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu from them.

Police confiscated 150 grams of shabu with a street value of P1.02 million from Nadduha and Jhol.

Nadduha said their supplier sourced the shabu from Zamboanga, police said.

The illegal drugs supposedly came from Malaysia that entered the country through backdoor channels in Mindanao, according to Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office chief.

Eleazar said Nadduha’s supplier is the subject of monitoring and case buildup in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Nadduha supposedly started his involvement in the illegal drug trade after he trained with the MNLF last year.

Investigation showed that Jhol served 11 years in prison for drugs.

The arrest of the two was an offshoot of an operation last May 8 that led to the arrest of drug suspects Nemia Castillo and Marites dela Cruz.

Cop nabbed

In Caloocan, Patrolman Leo Castillo was arrested in another drug sting in Barangay 173 before dawn yesterday.

He was apprehended along with alleged users Aurea Raod and Leopoldo Canibel. Six sachets of shabu were confiscated from them.

Caloocan drug enforcement chief Capt. Deo Cabildo said Castillo entered the service in 1996 and was assigned at the Manila Police District.

Castillo was last assigned at the mobile patrol unit of the Quezon City Police District but went absent without leave in 2007 due to a family problem, Cabildo said.
