LPU’s PATA student chapter bags int’l sponsorship
The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) student chapter of the Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU-Manila) Campus won the sponsorship offered by PATA international headquarters in Bangkok as representative of the Philippines at the PATA Annual Summit scheduled in Cebu City on May 9-12 this year.
This university-based organization originally made history when it became the first PATA student chapter in the Philippines. It is currently headed by its chairperson, Brian Henry Lusica, a senior in BS International Hospitality Management with specialization in culinary arts and kitchen operations. He will attend the annual summit together with student chapter secretary Blessilda Grace Callanta, a freshman in BS International Hospitality Management with specialization in cruise line operations major in culinary arts.
With a total membership of 140 students enrolled in LPU Manila’s Tourism and International Hospitality Management programs, the PATA LPU student chapter has been organizing tourism-related events in the Intramuros campus. These events, of which there have been 11 so far, are in line with the student chapter’s mission to further develop the culture of Tourism among students of the university. Its most recent event, “Patalogue,” held at the university’s JPL Hall of Freedom, had three interesting speakers on Travel Vlogging, and attracted approximately 500 students.
The PATA student chapters from the other parts of the world who are also sponsored by PATA headquarters to attend the Annual Summit are those from South Korea, Singapore, United Kingdom, Indonesia, India, Japan, and China.
