It’s a busy 2019 for Filipino-Italian actor/director Ruben Maria Soriquez (photo) who just starred in The Immortal Hunters, an action/horror film directed by Paolo Bertola. The film is currently in postproduction.

After his role as David Pascal in The General’s Daughter topbilled by Angel Locsin, Ruben is now in Italy for the second edition of his European Philippine International Film Festival (EPIFF) which he co-founded with the Philippine Italian Association, Italian Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (ICCPI) and Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

Before he left for Italy, direk Ruben said that he enjoyed working with Angel and wished to work with her again in the future.

“I had a scene with Angel Locsin on my last taping day for The General’s Daughter. I enjoyed it. Unluckily, it was the only one with her. I know we could work well together. I hope I can have Angel in one of my films in the future,” Ruben stated.

Moreover, one of the films he directed and starred in, the comedy/thriller The Spider’s

Man, will be released in the US, Canada and Europe by Leomark Studios in Los Angeles. Richard Quan, Lee O’Brian, Jeff Tam and Rob Sy will also be starring alongside Ruben.

On the other hand, the horror film The Lease, starring Ruben himself and Garie Concepcion, will not just be shown in the US, Europe and Canada, but will also have a theatrical release in India (by Dhalanjay

Galani, Mumbai).

“I think it’s the first time for a small independent film from the Philippines to have theatrical distribution in India,” said Ruben. “We already signed the deal, and I think it’s a great opportunity to showcase the Philippines there, especially since The Lease was shot in the scenic Tagaytay,” he added.

The Lease is directed by Paolo Bertola and produced by Mario Alaman.

Another project of Ruben to look out for is Steven Seagal’s General

Commander this coming May 28 wherein Ruben plays the mafia member Santino Amato. The film will be distributed by Lionsgate.

Ruben expressed his desire to be based in the US so that he can focus more on his international career.

“I am currently working on an American TV series,” shared Ruben. “It’s going to be a long process but I am very excited about it,” continued Ruben who doesn’t hide his plan to also work in the United States in the future.
