AIRPLANE AND FLIGHT INNOVATIONS IN DELTA MAKE FLYING STRESS-FREE
Delta is leading the way with innovative investments and experiences that are transforming travel into a part of the journey customers can look forward to. From adding biometric options that ease airport processes, to tracking bags real-time via its mobile app, Delta is drawing the blueprint for the future of travel.
Delta launched the first-ever facial recognition biometric terminal in the US last December.
If you’re flying internationally out of Atlanta HartsfieldJackson International Airport — Terminal F, you have the option to use facial biometrics instead of a boarding pass or government-issued ID to check in, check a bag, pass through security and board your flight.
Another easy way to checkin is through the Fly Delta app. The automatic check-in feature streamlines the checkin experience. This function automatically checks in eligible customers 24 hours prior to their scheduled departure. You receive an alert via email or push notification, open the app and find your flight reminders, along with your boarding pass.
RFID LUGGAGE TAGGING AND REAL-TIME TRACKING
Delta is the only carrier that has implemented an RFID bag tracking solution on a global scale to further improve its already-strong reliability for checked bags.
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) bag tags are already attached to bags everywhere Delta flies, and customers are reaping the benefits. You can receive live push notifications from critical points along your bag’s journey. A quick note will let you know when their bag is successfully loaded onto an aircraft, which carousel it will arrive for pickup and more. With Delta, you no longer have to worry about lost or misplaced luggage.
Delta customers who need to send a crucial email or message during the flight can do so, even without purchasing Wi-Fi. In October 2017, Delta Air Lines became the first US global carrier to offer free mobile messaging, providing more passengers with access to free messaging than any other carrier. This complimentary capability enables you to stay fully connected with those on the ground and exchange real time messages in flight with friends, families, colleagues, and clients via iMessage, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
You can now look forward to free Wi-Fi on Delta in your future flights. A two-week pilot to test free in-flight Wi-Fi is ongoing across all cabins on select short-, medium- and longhaul routes. This is Delta’s first step toward realizing its vision of offering free Internet as part its large library of complimentary onboard entertainment options.
