Calamba Doctors Hospital: Medical care at its best

-

The 1980s saw the rise of Calamba from a simple and rustic town to a highly urbanized area that it is today. The city had all the elements of a dynamic community with the establishment of industrial companies coupled with increasing population and easy accessibility.

Thus, the 27 founding members of Calamba Doctors’ Hospital realized the need to provide the growing populace with quality medical services. What used to be a small clinic in Crossing, Calamba called Systematic Medical Inc. (Systemedic), acquired and subsequently managed by the Advanced Medical Systems Inc. (AMSI) in 1994, evolved into what is now known as Calamba Doctors’ Hospital, a premier tertiary hospital in the Calabarzon area that was inaugurated on June 16, 1995.

More than two decades later, the growth years of Calamba Doctors’ Hospital became phenomenal. A new major hospital service, a new hospital wing or a new subsidiary business were established yearly.

To date, major hospital services of CDH include 1. Calamba Diagnostics Inc. (CDI) 2. Calamba Doctors College that offers bachelor courses in nursing, physical therapy, midwifery, radiologic technology, and soon, pharmacy and dental medicine and a kindergarten to college level course 3. Laguna MRI Center Inc. that boasts of a brand new and more powerful MRI machine (1.5 Tesla Siemens MRI) and an Extracorporeal Shockwave Lithotripsy (ESWL) service. 4. Medical Arts Buildings 1, 2, and 3 to further accommodate the increasing bulk of out-patients and in-patients seeking consultation and admission, respectively.

On Feb. 5, 2015, a 150-kilowatt solar panel system and a one-kilowatt helical wind turbine by Orion Group International was installed at the building and further increased to 200 kilowatts in 2017, making CDH the first “Green Hospital” in the country.

In the near future, more innovative ways to enhance the services of the hospital are in the offing: 1. CDH Wellness and Related Specialty Centers like the Eye Center, Cosmetic Surgery Center, Women’s Health Center, Acupuncture and Alternative Medicine Center, Dental Implantation and Aesthetic Center, Nutrition and Diatetics Center and Sinus, Voice and Swallowing Center 2. AMSI Doctors’ Medical Center, built on a 4,000 sq meter lot in Barangay Halang with an estimated 220 bed hospital and state-of-the-art medical facilities and equipment 3. Pediatric Medical Center, to be integrated into the main hospital’s ancillary services to improve delivery at reduced cost 4. Cardiac Center.

While CDH-AMSI continues to embark on new and exciting projects, its mission of rendering high quality and excellent services remains unabated. Its “Alagang Kapamilya” culture is seen through its dedicated and compassionate medical staff, employees and the hospital management. Indeed, the prestigious triple ISO certification by TUV Nord attests to the hospital’s continuing thrust in providing commendable care to its constituents.
