FORD Philippines is expanding its Ranger lineup in the Philippines with the launch of the new Ranger XLS Sport.

The Ranger XLS Sport is an upgraded version of the Ranger XLS variant, featuring design enhancements that make it more visually striking.

The Ranger XLS Sport has upgraded 17-inch alloy wheels and sports a glossy black painted rear bumper and front grille. Its sides have been fitted with step boards for ease of entry.

The Ranger XLS Sport is powered by the proven 2.2-liter TDCi engine, which generates 160ps and 385Nm of Torque. It’s coupled to a 6-speed manual transmission.

It is also equipped with DriverAssist Technologies such as ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, cruise control, dual front airbags, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. It’s also powered by SYNC, Ford’s hands-free infotainment system, allowing ease of access to the Ranger’s entertainment system and connected mobile devices through simple voice commands.

The Ranger XLS Sport initially comes in two variants: the priceleading Ranger XLS Sport 4x2 MT priced at P1,062,000, and the Ranger XLS Sport 4x4 MT priced at P1,211,000. It comes in five colors: Arctic White, Absolute Black, Aluminum Metallic, Meteor Grey, and True Red.

“The new Ranger XLS Sport is definitely a welcome addition to our already extensive Ranger lineup in the country, catering to customers with more utilitarian needs. It remains one of the most powerful and performance-bred pickup trucks in the market today with a more striking and recognizable exterior while still retaining the same Built Ford Tough features that our customers have grown to love,” shares Ford Philippines Marketing AVP Ryan Lorenzo.

First quarter retail sales for the Ford Ranger rose 25 percent from the same quarter a year ago to 3,142 vehicles, including March sales increasing 21 percent to 1,137 vehicles.

Ford launched the new Ranger lineup in the country last year, which consists of nine different variants, including the firstever Ranger Raptor, the popular high-series Wildtrak, mid-grade XLT, and more utilitarian XLS variants.
