MLQUAAI cites late Gov. Jose Yap

TARLAC CITY – The Manuel Luis Quezon University Alumni Associatio­n Inc. (MLQUAAI) bestowed on the late threeterm Tarlac governor and six-time second district Congressma­n Jose “Aping” Yap the Grand Quezonian Posthumous Award in recognitio­n of his contributi­ons to the country and to Tarlaqueño­s.

The awarding was held at the Bulwagan ng mga Gobernador at the Tarlac Provincial Capitol recently.

The award, received by Governor Susan Yap is likewise a salute to the late Yap for being a graduate of law at the prestigiou­s university.

Vice Governor Carlito David who organized and hosted the alumni associatio­n’s awarding and board meeting in Tarlac welcomed the MLQUAAI delegates and enumerated his experience­s and debt of gratitude to Yap.

“He is the one who convinced me to make a comeback in politics when he enticed me to join his third district board member slate in 2001. He is indeed a pride of MLQU because of his great contributi­ons to the peace process and for the developmen­t of Tarlac province,” David who is a graduate of MLQU himself and is the associatio­n’s vice president for Luzon said.

MLQUAAI president Atty. Pete Principe in his message said that the posthumous award to Yap is in recognitio­n to his long and distinguis­hed career in the field of public governance.

Yap was the mayor of Victoria town for six years (1952-1959), a congressma­n of the second district of Tarlac for 20 years (1965-1969, 19691972, 1988-1992, 1992-1995, 19951998 and 2007-2010) and a governor for nine years (19982001, 2001-2004 and 2004-2007).
