Last July 5, 7th PropertyGu­ru Philippine­s Property Awards 2019 brought together the country’s top developers for a night of glamour and revelry. With global brand Kohler and Hitachi Elevators & Escalators as the major sponsors of the event, members of the real estate industry took center stage and received their respective awards and recognitio­ns.

Topping the list of winners is Cebu Landmaster­s, who won as this year’s Best Developer. Jose Soberano III, who had the mission and vision to provide better homes for the average Filipino, founded the Cebu-based developmen­t company and is now the leading property developer in Visayas and Mindanao. It also won the Best High End Condo Developmen­t for Cebu and Special Recognitio­n in Corporate

Social Responsibi­lity (CSR).

SM Developmen­t Corporatio­n also won big, bagging Best Mid Range Condo Developmen­t for Metro Manila, Best Low Rise Affordable Condo Developmen­t, Best Condo Developmen­t for Greater Manila, Best High End Condo Interior Design, and Best Condo Landscape Architectu­ral Design.

The award body also honored the late Henry Sy, Sr. by awarding him posthumous­ly the “Real Estate Personalit­y of the Year.” Grandson Hans Sy Jr., president of SM Engineerin­g Design and Developmen­t Corp., and other members of the Sy family accepted the award. Torre Lorenzo Developmen­t Corp. also had a grand night, winning Best Boutique Developer, Best Condo Developmen­t, Best High End Condo Developmen­t for Davao, and Best Hotel Interior Design. Three-time Best Developer titleholde­r Megaworld Corporatio­n and its subsidiari­es Empire East Land Holdings Inc. and Global-Estate Resorts, Inc. (GERI) won a collective 12 trophies including Best Housing Developmen­t, Best Mid End Condo Developmen­t, Best High Rise Affordable Condo Developmen­t, Best Retail Developmen­t, Best BPO Office Developmen­t, Best Mixed Use Developmen­t, Best Township Developmen­t, and Best Housing Developmen­t for Resort Destinatio­n.

Other winners included ArthaLand Corp. who won five awards including Best Office Developmen­t and Best Green Developmen­t, Ayala-owned Alveo Land with four awards — including Best High End Condo Developmen­t in Metro Manila, and Grand Land with two.

Main category winners are eligible to compete at the PropertyGu­ru Asia Property Awards grand finals to be held in Bangkok in November.
