The Philippine Society for Cosmetic Surgery (PSCS), a professional medical society dedicated to patients’ safety and physicians’ continuing education in the field of cosmetic and aesthetic surgery in the Philippines, will hold its 47th annual congress and founding anniversary on Aug. 10-11, at Taal Vista Hotel, Tagaytay City, Cavite. Dr. Benito Atienza, Philippine Medical Association (PMA) vice-president is the keynote speaker and guest of honor.

This year’s theme “Lift – Disruptive technologies and innovations,” focuses on the cosmetic surgeons’ need to adapt with the constant arrival of new technologies that threaten many types of cosmetic surgery procedures.

According to Dr. Al Farabi Lee Jaafar, PSCS president, the emergence of advanced techniques, products or machines, may soon invalidate or alter conventional mode of management of certain aesthetic conditions and thus should not be dismissed by surgeons.

PSCS was founded in 1972 and to date has over 80 active cosmetic surgeons. An affiliate society of the Philippine Medical Association since 1972, PSCS represents board certified cosmetic surgeons. Members are specialists who acquired skills and knowledge in the science of surgical aesthetics by undergoing formal subspecialty training in cosmetic surgery. It conducts monthly scientific and business meetings as well as annual local and international conventions with live-surgery workshops.

Aside from Jaafar, other PSCS executive officers and board directors are: doctors Konrad Aguila, vice president; Oliver Diaz, secretary; Angel de Larrazabal, treasurer; Medina Malit, auditor; Fatima Regala, PRO; Jay Crisostomo and Mariano Agcaoili, directors; Exequiel Yumang, financial secretary; and Rosario Ballecer, ex-officio.

PSCS established the first center-based cosmetic surgery training program in the country (Centuria Medical Makati) composed of topnotch local and international faculty members. Interested doctors with completed surgical residency may contact 0918-9853668 or visit its website:
