BDOF receives BSP Outstanding Partner Award
For its successful collaboration with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) in concerted efforts to promote financial inclusion and help raise the country’s financial literacy levels, BDO Foundation was conferred the Outstanding Financial Education Partner Award by BSP. The corporate social responsibility arm of BDO Unibank is the first ever recipient of the accolade.
The award was presented to the foundation by BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno and Monetary Board member Bruce Tolentino at the 2019 awards ceremony and appreciation lunch for BSP stakeholders held in Malate, Manila. Themed “One Team, One Goal: Resilient Partnership Towards Inclusive Economic Growth,” the event is one of the highlights of the central bank’s 26th anniversary celebrations.
The Outstanding Financial Education Partner Award is in recognition of BDO Foundation’s ongoing financial education programs for public schools, overseas Filipino workers and soldiers – corporate citizenship initiatives that support BSP’s National Strategy for Financial Inclusion. The programs are the result of the foundation’s partnerships with BSP, the Department of Education, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and Philippine Army.
“We would like to extend our gratitude to BSP and its Center for Learning and Inclusion Advocacy for this honor. Thank you for collaborating with us, for giving us an opportunity to develop relevant programs and contribute to nation-building,” said BDO Foundation president Mario Deriquito, who accepted the award together with BDO Foundation program director Rose Espinosa (in photo).
The award is the second received by the foundation for its financial inclusion advocacy. Earlier this year, its financial education program for public schools was named one of the best corporate social responsibility projects in Asia at the prestigious Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards 2019. BDO Foundation was one of only three Philippine organizations recognized in the event held in Taiwan.
