Shake up Ghost Month with a fun look, a new fit, a playlist to put on loop and a different kind of workout.

- Tin SarTorio

Whoever said Ghost Month is boring clearly doesn’t know how to have fun. I’m kidding, of course. But at this point, nothing should be raining on your parade — not the traffic, not the weather, not even the end of the school break. Just think of it this way: we’re one month away from the unofficial start of the Christmas season and if that doesn’t shake you to the core, then you must be in a seriously deep slump. But that’s okay, we’re here to round up a list of things we’re currently obsessing over to help you shake up Ghost Month.

Color me purple

Recent scrolls through Instagram will tell you that fun and colorful beauty looks are back. We’re not just talking about a bold lip color here or there, people. We mean purple eye shadow, cherry accents on the tip of a wing liner and, um — thick glitter tears? Much of this is because of HBO’s hit teen series Euphoria, yes, but it’s also almost intuitive to combat the rainy gloomy days ahead with a pop of color or two. We recommend using 3ina’s cream eyeshadow in the shades 306 (deep purple) and 304 (aqua) and swipe on the longwear lipstick in the shade 502 (light pink) while you’re at it. The Europe-made cruelty-free vegan beauty brand recently found its way to Manila, with a branch in SM Makati and a full-range branch (we’re talking 700 assortments here) opening in Robinsons Ermita this September. And btw, it’s pronounced “Mee-Nah!” Go figure. For more information, follow @3inaph on Instagram.

Cool intentions

Can you believe? It’s already the first anniversary of the Off-White Manila store. It’s also been a year since we photographed the boys of Perea Street in the Manila store wearing, you guessed it, Off-White F/W 2018 Men’s Collection. No big deal. But what’s an Off-White celebration without a special release? The Off-White Manila Year 1 anniversary capsule collection captures the essence of common jeepney art, perfecting the details of airbrushed multicolored graffiti. Did we mention tees and hoodies from the capsule can be customized with a handjet printer? The collection — also featuring canvas tote bags and baseball caps — exclusively drops in store this Saturday, Aug. 10. The “Print Shop” will be open Aug. 10-12 in 8 Rockwell by the store. Off-White Manila is located in Ground floor, 8 Rockwell Building, Hidalgo Drive, Makati City. Follow @off___white__manila on Instagram for more information.

57 minutes in heaven

Getting our butts to the gym is already hard enough as it is. But what more when the rain starts to pour down? Yes, I’m looking at you, Brenda. Well, what if we tell you that it only takes a 57-minute workout to get your body into good shape? I know, I know. Home workout videos have made us all skeptics, but trust us when we say that Physique 57, a dynamic barre studio in BGC, keeps its promise. Originating from New York, the core program works every inch of the body, using classical ballet exercises and the Lotte Berk Method, developed by a classically-trained dancer who conceptualized a combined workout of strength training, dance, and orthopedic back exercises for maximum results. With a ballet barre, hand weights, playground ball, fun playlist and motivating workout buddies, your session in Physique is bound to be 57 minutes in heaven. Physique 57 is currently located at W Building, 5th Ave., BGC, Taguig, with two more branches opening in Manila soon. Follow @physique57manila on Instagram and like fb.com/Physique57 on Facebook.

Mix it up

Picture this: It’s a Sunday evening. It’s been raining the whole week but you’re still determined to make the most out of the last few hours of the weekend. Your bujo is filled, your facemask is starting to dry up and you’ve just cleansed your crystals. What do you do next? We recommend putting on the

Young STAR playlist called “Songs you didn’t know you can meditate to.” Okay, fine, it’s more like songs you can flow to, but yes, we went there. The playlist features songs from RAC and CRWN, two electronic music masters we’re excited to watch on Aug. 18 at Karpos Live Mix 5. Think of it as concert pre-game, yes, but it’s also perfect for a little meditation. Their music is smooth af and just overall easy to listen to. We also added some songs from the artists for Karpos Live Mixes 6, 7 and 8 such as Unique, The Japanese House and Jeremy Zucker because why not? You can thank us later. Follow @youngstarphils on Spotify to access the playlist. Karpos Live Mix 5 with RAC + CRWN is happening on Aug. 18 at ABS-CBN Vertis Tent. Buy regular and early bird tickets for Mixes 5-8 on karposlive.com and follow @karposlive on Instagram for announcements.
