‘Across the Crescent Moon’ screening and a bazaar mark Maryknoll College ‘69 golden jubilee celebration
In celebration of their golden jubilee, College Class 1969 of the former Maryknoll College presents a special screening of Across the Crescent Moon, the awardwinning action drama produced, written and directed by a noted member of the class, Baby R.Nebrida. The acclaimed film will be shown on Sept.8 at 5 p.m. at the Dolby Atmos Cinema 8 of Greenhills Promenade at the Greenhills Shopping Center, in cooperation with the Music Museum Group.
The film showing, which puts the spotlight on the menace of human trafficking alongside the strengthening of family ties in a Muslim-Christian marriage, is a key event that brings together the Maryknoll College jubilarians after 50 years, with many arriving from overseas for the grand homecoming. Preceding the screening and inclusive of the P500 ticket price will be cocktails and a visual arts exhibit at the Promenade Mall featuring the works of members of the class and their families at 3 p.m. Rose Olympia Bautista, head of the Golden Jubilee organizing committee, says the film presentation is open to the public. For tickets, call 0919-4222879.
To raise funds for the class Compassion Fund, the public is also invited to the Mary the Queen white elephant bazaar and garage sale on Aug. 25 at the Christ the King Parish grounds in Greenmeadows, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Other homecoming events planned between Sept. 1 and 11 include: Class Recollection-Mass-Healing service; Jubilarians welcome party and the class party immediately following the Grand Alumni Homecoming and dinner to be hosted by the MC president on Sept. 7; class outing to Montemar and Las Casas Filipinas de Azucar; and a farewell picnic at Purro Nature Reserve in Antipolo. A stunning souvenir book, From Ruby
to Gold compiles individual profiles of classmates spanning the last decade.
