Bloomfield Academy celebrates Science Olympics 2019
A venue to show great potential in mobilizing energy in the students, providing a synergized performance task to encompass all subject areas to showcase different skills in one big activity is a welcome challenge.
Thus, the Science Olympics 2019 begins!
House colors adorn Bloomfield Academy once again as student teams go on a head-to-head battle of scientific prowess, technological skills, and wit in the Science Olympics 2019 competitions on Sept. 1314, in Bloomfield Academy, Las Piñas City.
With the theme “Science for the People: Enabling Technologies for Sustainable Development,” students from the Four Houses – Wind, Earth, Fire and Water – will participate in different events in their bid to become this year’s House Champion.
Science Olympics 2019 is organized by the Science department. The celebration aims to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) among students through competitive and collaborative activities, reinforce content and skills they have learned inside the classroom, and foster camaraderie among fellow students inside and outside the school.
This year’s Science Olympics is composed of 12 major competitions, namely: Paper Tower, Straw Bridge, Sound Machine, Large Barge, Keep it Hot & Cold, Catapult, Clean, Clear Water, Powered Racers, Stop, Thief, Crime Scene Investigation, Tropical Island Water Challenge, Balloon Powered Racers, Science Chef, Naked Egg Drop, Stranded, Space Lander Mission and Up, Up & Away!
The student’s knowledge on different scientific concepts will be put to the test during the Science Quiz Challenge. Participants of the Science Quiz Challenge will undergo a series of written tests in biology, chemistry and earth and space science.
Math wizards will test their computational skills as they solve math problems in the Quiz Bee.
Students from other private schools in Las Piñas City are also invited to witness and engage in science-heavy but fun-filled activities that are not usually part of but complement formal classroom instruction.
