- – Catherine Talavera

The Department of Tourism (DOT) has brought its Kain Na! food and travel fair to the northern part of Luzon as it launched the program in Baguio City, in line with its push for culinary tourism.

In a statement, DOT said Ayala Technohub Baguio hosted the food and travel fair from Oct. 11 to 13.

The event featured food and farm tourism offerings of Ilocos, La Union and Pangasinan, Cagayan Valley and Northern Philippines Island Region and the Cordilleras.

“It is now the time for our regions up north to showcase their culinary prowess at the Kain Na! North edition,” Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat said.

Kain Na! is organized through a partnership between the DOT and Ayala Malls. It was first launched last year, in various locations across the country such as Bacolod, Albay, Cebu, Laguna, among others.

Earlier editions of the culinary fair were previously launched this year, particularly in Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque City and Alabang Town Center in Muntinlupa.

Aside from food exhibitors and local chefs, regional farm tourism associations, farm owners and operators supported by partner agency, the Department of Agriculture also graced the three-day event.
