4 die in N. Lu­zon road mishaps

TUGUE­GARAO – Four per­sons died while four oth­ers were in­jured in sep­a­rate ve­hic­u­lar ac­ci­dents in Nueva Viz­caya, Is­abela, Ilo­cos Norte and Ilo­cos Sur yes­ter­day.

Joey Ha­billing was headed home in a tri­cy­cle when he lost con­trol of the wheel and hit a road bar­rier in Barangay Ba­ga­habag, Solano, Nueva Viz­caya.

Ha­billing died while be­ing treated in a hos­pi­tal, where his com­pan­ions John Paul Bu­mang­hat and Eric To­mas were also taken for treat­ment of in­juries.

The vic­tims re­port­edly came from a drink­ing ses­sion, po­lice said.

In Is­abela, Joseph Mon­teagudo died at the scene when his tri­cy­cle was hit by a sport util­ity ve­hi­cle (SUV) in Barangay Pal­latao, Naguil­ian.

Re­ports said the SUV crashed into a house af­ter hit­ting the tri­cy­cle.

SUV driver Resti­tuto Baua, 49, and his com­pan­ion Joy Agatep, 39, were rushed to a hos­pi­tal in Cauayan City for treat­ment.

In Ilo­cos Norte, Ger­man Gunong, 25, was trav­el­ing in Barangay Bac­sil when his mo­tor­cy­cle over­shot and hit a road bar­rier. Gunong died at the scene. In Ilo­cos Sur, Ken­neth Urata, 24, re­port­edly tried to over­take, caus­ing his mo­tor­cy­cle to hit an SUV driven by Lex­ter Dave Galano, 22, in Barangay Ban­nuar.

Urata died while be­ing treated at the hos­pi­tal.

Re­spond­ing po­lice of­fi­cers brought Galano to the po­lice sta­tion for ques­tion­ing.
