7-Eleven Foundation donates community playground for Bacolod kids
There’s more reason to smile for the children in Bacolod, the city of smile, as PhilSeven Foundation Inc. (PFI), the CSR arm of Philippine Seven Corp. (PSC), recently turned over a community playground to its local government.
Located in Barangay Handumanan, one of the largest communities among the 61 barangays in Bacolod City in terms of population and land area, the newly built community playground will provide real play experience to all children 12 years old and below in the area.
Visayas regional business unit head, Francis Medina said that the modern-day outdoor playground park facility followed the standard rules and regulations on safety for children.
“PFI is very glad to provide another community playground which is a venue for real play especially in this era of computers and online gaming. Children need to develop their physical, emotional, social and cognitive skills through a valuable activity. At the Everyday Play Community Playground they can enjoy being kids and that will be the foundation’s lasting gift for these kids – joyful memories to make them positive and successful adult in the future,” says Medina.
The “Everyday Play” project is one of PFI’s long-running campaigns which is one of the foundation’s core focus advocacies that began in December 2007. Other 7-Eleven “Everyday Play” community playgrounds in the country are located in Dasmariñas Cavite, Pateros, Sta. Rosa Laguna, Caloocan City, San Fernando Pampanga and Malolos City.
PFI’s other community projects in several parts of the country include, from among others, playground construction, mobile school donation, classroom donation, feeding programs, medical missions, and disaster/relief operations.
