Grab expands food delivery to Bacolod

- By RICHMOND MERCURIO

Super app Grab continues to expand its online food delivery platform, recently adding Bacolod City to its growing nationwide network.

The introduction of GrabFood in Bacolod is expected to further cement Grab’s position as the leading food delivery platform with the largest operations in the Philippines.

“In 2015, we came to Bacolod to help address transportation issues and have since become an indispensable part of Negrenses’ daily commute. We now take on the challenge of improving access to great food and bringing more livelihood opportunities for the people of Bacolod through GrabFood,” GrabFood Philippines head EJ Dela Vega said

Bacolod is a highly-urbanized city that holds a rich history and is known for its mouthwatering cuisine. With Bacolod’s culinary scene, GrabFood has partnered with a variety of merchants to cater to a diverse range of customers in the city.

“Food delivery is a natural extension of Grab’s transport services. Bringing this service is part of our commitment to transforming Bacolod into a smarter city powered by Grab,” said Joann Yoshida, Grab Philippines operations lead for Western Visayas.

In less than a year since its launch, GrabFood has already expanded in 35 cities nationwide.

According to Grab, a market research by Kantar showed that GrabFood is the most often used food delivery platform in the Philippines in the second quarter with 78 percent of users voting for it over other app-based food delivery brands.

GrabFood currently has the widest selection of restaurant partners in the Philippines.

Last August, GrabFood further beefed up its service with the start of 24/7 operations in Metro Manila and Cebu.

“As the leading super app in the Philippines, our mission is to elevate the lives of Filipinos by solving daily limitations and addressing their most basic needs,” Dela Vega said.

Aside from online food delivery service, Grab is further bolstering its position as a super app with the rollout of a new set of transport, logistics and lifestyle services including Bus Marketplace, GrabExpress Nationwide Delivery, GrabSalon, GrabGifts, Videos, and Hotels.
