Festival Mall launches month-long literacy campaign
Last Oct. 15, Festival Mall in Alabang launched “Bookabulary,” a month-long literacy campaign in partnership with the Early Childhood Education Division (ECED) and WS Pacific Publications Inc.
With the theme, “A Festival of Learning,” Bookabulary aims to promote functional literacy by increasing interest in learning through books and making reading a part of everyday social activities.
Until Nov. 14, participants can join ongoing activities at the 2nd Level, Grand Caroureading sel Area, Expansion Building, including a book sale, storytelling, arts and crafts, and book drive.
Bookabulary is also Filinvest Lifemalls’ way to create a learning ground for Lifemallers, and an opportunity to urge everyone to donate gently used books in all Filinvest Lifemalls and BPO companies in the area for the benefit of the Muntinlupa Public Library.
One of the campaign’s objectives is to promote value formation. Through reading, kids can be taught good values that will help them grow with good manners and right conduct. Moreover, the campaign is one way to encourage the Filipino youth to contribute positively to the community. It is anticipated as an annual campaign of Festival Mall in October along with the celebration of the Kid’s Month.
Bookabulary’s launch was participated by the community of ECED, a government organization that aims to develop Muntinlupeño children holistically, especially in the areas of education, health, and nutrition. They have a program called Booklandia, spearheaded by Mayor Jaime Fresnedi, wherein children are taught to learn without gadgets and love
line Program through with books that its play, Day promotes more. ECED Care And Service brings learning in its to Bookabulary three- to four-year-old to take part kids in its reading activities.
“As we cultivate the love of reading at this early stage, we are also investing for their future as a good listener and as a good leader of the society. If we care for our children, we have to invest into the development of one of their fundamental skills, which is reading,” said Robert Espanola Narisma, events and preparations head for ECED.
The book sale and storytelling activities are headed by WS Pacific Publications Inc., a company that engages in direct marketing and display selling of children’s books nationwide including remote areas. They also have ongoing monthly campaigns with NGOs and orphanages through storytelling sessions.
The company believes Bookabulary supports their belief that early education is important for the success of children in the future, and their goal to give children from all walks of life the right to read books.
