PNP, SMDC partner vs drugs

- – Non Alquitran

To boost the Duterte administration’s war on drugs, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has inked a partnership with SM Development Corp. (SMDC) to prevent condominium units from being used as base of operations by drug rings.

Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, PNP chief of directorial staff, noted that anti-narcotics operations conducted by police in condominiums and subdivisions in Metro Manila have resulted in the recovery of billions of pesos worth of shabu.

The PNP has confiscated around P204 million worth of shabu during a raid on a condominium unit in Pasig City, Eleazar said. Another sting in a Las Piñas City subdivision yielded at least P455 million worth of shabu.

In a statement, the SMDC said one of the arrangements they made with law enforcement agencies is to coordinate drug operations to be conducted by police within their premises.
