ZAMBOANGA CITY – Three persons died and 10 others were injured when a cargo truck rammed a house in Sibuco, Zamboanga del Norte on Sunday.

Rodolfo Santiago, 60, and his nephews James Bryan, 18, and Dwayne, 4, all residents of Sitio Lipuno, Barangay Limpapa, were pronounced dead on arrival in a hospital.

Maj. Helen Galvez, Zamboanga peninsula police spokesperson, said among those injured was the truck driver, Jayson de Leon, 35.

Ten other occupants of the house, including two children aged eight and an 11-month-old baby, were also injured. They were taken to the Labuan Hospital for treatment, but later transferred to the Zamboanga City Medical Center.

Initial investigation showed the truck, which was loaded with assorted cargoes, was traveling to Zamboanga City when De Leon lost control of the wheel while driving down the road at around 7:20 p.m.

“The truck fell from the road and... struck the house occupied by the victims,” Galvez said.

The truck driver was placed under the custody of the Sibuco police.
