BSP finalist in global coin awards

The International Association of Currency Affairs (IACA) has recognized the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas in the Excellence in Currency 2019 Coin Awards at the biennial coin conference in Rome, Italy.

The BSP’s new generation currency (NGC) coin series and the Coin-Ed campaign were among the top three finalists awarded in the best new circulating coins and best public education program categories, respectively.

During the awards ceremony, IACA cited the enhanced aesthetic of the NGC coins, cutting-edge security features, and improved wear and corrosion resistance capabilities.

The NGC coins including the 10-piso, five-piso, onepiso, 25-sentimo, five-sentimo and one-sentimo released in March 2018 feature native flora, heroes and stylized Philippine flag.

On the other hand, BSP’s Coin-Ed program was lauded for utilizing multiple communication channels aimed at increasing awareness and promoting public engagement in the recirculation and proper use of the new coins.
