ICD holds annual convocation, banquet
The International College of Dentists-Philippines Section (ICD-PS, Section IX) held its 53rd annual convocation and banquet yesterday at the Ballroom of Hilton Manila, with keynote speaker and inducting officer Sen. Francis Pangilinan.
With its theme, “Awakening Hearts to Serve,” the ICD Philippines Section hopes to rekindle the flame of service through humanitarian projects for the less-fortunate,” according to its incoming president, Dr. Maria Victoria Pangilinan, a graduate of the University of the Philippines’ College of Dentistry and outgoing head of the dentistry and oral surgery service of St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City.
Inducted are the new officers for 2020, headed by Maria Victoria Pangilinan, president-elect; Dr. Fidel Bondoc, vice-president; Dr. Sheryl Borja, secretary; Dr. Glendora de Villa, treasurer; Dr. Gladys So, auditor; Dr. Aurea Elipano, PRO; Dr. Walter Sy ,directors;
Dr. Iluminada Viloria and Dr. Apolonia Tanbonliong, immediate past president; Dr. Preciosa Tanagon, master fellow and councilor; Dr. Hermogenes Villareal and Dr. Vivian Gabaldon as editor. Also included in the event is the conferment of Life Fellow to Dr. Ester Rosca, Dr. Lina de Joya, Dr. Priscilla Chiang, Dr. Amador Lapid and Dr. Hermogenes Villareal.
Another highlight of the event is the investiture of the new fellows, Dr. Alice Atienza, Dr. Ricardo Boncan, Dr. Maria Alicia Camacho, Dr. Jean Yasmin Cruz, Dr. Liza Grace Cu, Dr. Kathrina de Luna, Dr. Grace Ellen Dey,
Dr. Harvey Laranang and Dr. Marjorie Nava.
The annual banquet’s motif was black and white with the ladies in white pearls. The evening was set in the era of the 1920’s to commemorate the 100th year celebration of ICD International. Updates on the Centennial calendar were announced and 100 raffle prizes were drawn out for the members.
The mother organization, ICD, traces its roots in Nagoya, Japan in 1920. To celebrate ICD’s 100th year, Dr. Pangilinan announced that the centennial calendar has been filled up with meaningful events until November 2020.
