Njel de Mesa compiles philanthropic works in new documentary
Bell films and award-winning writer-director Njel de Mesa (photo) in his new documentary film compile the philanthropic works of private institutions and individuals during the period of the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). Aptly titled Privately in Bayanihan, the film also charts the remarkable moments, pronouncements and highlights of what the Philippines has gone through from March to June 2020 under strict lockdown.
Celebrities like Alex Gonzaga, Ryan Cayabyab, Katrina Halili, Freddie Aguilar and Anne Curtis were featured among the top celebrities who helped fellow artists and displaced workers during the pandemic, as well as the invaluable contributions of the two big networks of the Philippines: ABS-CBN and GMA.
The initiatives of business magnates and tycoons were also given a spotlight, citing the Lucio Tan group’s Help Flows program, Ramon Ang’s Project Ugnayan program, Manny Pangilinan’s Tulong Kapatid, as well as the outreach programs by Dr. James Dy’s PCCAI and FCGCCI to various LGUs, to name a few.
Medical donations or relief contributions by foreign organizations and other countries such as China, Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, South Korea, UAE, the US and France were also mentioned in the film.
The documentary was also able to get special interviews (which were done via Zoom) from top government officials of agencies, who were leading the charge in the fight against COVID-19 (e.g. Sen. Bong Go, Usec. Jonathan Malaya, Presidential Adviser Joey Concepcion). The film already had a special live broadcast by Radio TV Malacañang but will also be available in all social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and Instagram.
