6 cops survive NPA ambush

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Six police officers survived an ambush perpetrate­d by suspected communist rebels in Sta. Maria town on Monday.

Lt. Bryan Gonzalo, commander of the Calabarzon Regional Mobile Force Battalion, and his men were on three motorcycle­s on their way to pick up Chinese and Filipino engineers from a dam site when they were waylaid in Barangay Santiago at around 2 p.m.

Pursuit operations for the New People’s Army rebels are ongoing.
